Spanish Immersion

In an increasingly multi-lingual and multi-cultural environment, the Montessori Children’s House offers a Spanish Immersion program for ages 3 to 7 years. This program is designed to immerse  the child in the Spanish language in a carefully prepared environment of a Montessori classroom, by teachers who are native Spanish speakers. This program is for children who have no prior knowledge of Spanish, and incorporates the children who speak the language already.  The class meets every week,  Monday through Friday from 12:20 pm to 3:20 pm.  Please contact us at 515-225-1073 for more information or to set up a tour.

Other Enrichment

Montessori Children's House is offering an extension to your child's experience in the Montessori environment through our Enrichment Program.  This program is designed to provide a series of cultural activities each week throughout the school year.  We have contracted with professionals in each specialty area who will plan and provide these activities.  Some of the opportunities may be something you have considered trying for your child, and now you have the opportunity to introduce them in a familiar setting.  We hope you can take advantage of this program!

All classes take place at Montessori Children's House.  Class times are Monday through Friday starting in September through May.  Enrichment starts between 3:00 and 3:15 p.m. each day and ends between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m.  Some of the classes will be divided into two groups - one starting at 3:00 and the next at 3:45.  The classes that are taught as one group will begin at 3:15.

There is a maximum of 12 students per class who are 3-7 years of age.  Please contact the office for a registration form.

Enrichment Activities:

Betty Mathers will be teaching art each Monday.  Betty has taught at Montessori Children's House for the past 6 years.  She taught art in elementary schools for over 12 years and in high school she taught art and photography for over 20 years.  Betty has also taught in the gifted and talented summer programming through the Des Moines School District.

Urbandale Dance and Gymnastics Club, Inc. will be teaching gymnastics each Tuesday.  There will be a variety of opportunities including tumbling and dance.  Urbandale Dance & Gymnastics' philosophy is to use sound educational teaching techniques to allow your child to develop their talents.  Their promise is to design a program with fun, fitness, and the opportunity for students to develop their individual ability.

Mad Science of Central Iowa will provide instruction in science each Wednesday.  They offer a unique hands-on, minds-on learning experience for preschool age children.  Their programs are interactive and age appropriate while introducing children to basic science topics.

The Living History Farms will provide instruction on each Thursday.

Keyboard West will provide instruction each Friday.  Keyboard West has worked with MCH for well over 10 years.  This program focuses on developing the eye, ear, and finger coordination necessary for music making while instilling a love for music.
